Two young ones, two teenagers, two husbands, and two sisters – eight people squeeze into the frame below the arch at the Phoenix Heritage Square park. Samantha and her boys are to my left. Nanette and her boys are to my right. Everyone is where they are supposed to be, their backs straight, smiles wide – everyone except for Samantha’s 2-year-old. Instead of finding any interest in the photoshoot, her little man is enamored with his starry navy and white suspenders. With fists gripping the stretchy brands on his chest, his eyes wander in every direction other than the direction of my camera. Needless to say, we had a lot of fun during this photoshoot!!
I have known Samantha and Nanette since I was a baby, though our paths have not crossed in many years. I was very much looking forward to seeing how much life has changed for the two of them since I last saw them. At least one thing that was quite different – Samantha certainly did not have her two little bundles of joy!! It’s exciting to see the lives and families these two incredibly strong women have created. It leaves me in awe that these two sisters have remained close through that growth, despite a large age gap between the two. A family that is able to pick fun at one another and laugh with each other is a precious gift.
Samantha & Nanette, thank you both for allowing me to spend this time with your families. I had such a fun time! Your families are beautiful and I admire the relationship you two sisters have. It wasn’t until my younger brother got married that I realized the important role a sister plays in one’s life. I love you all and I look forward to seeing you all continue to grow as a family.
