The parked car’s engine modestly rumbled through the quiet neighborhood. The passenger window rolled down to Tiara sitting in the driver’s seat. She was sifting through a makeup bag on her lap. She finished her mascara and pulled out a red tube of lipstick, and swiped a coat on. Quickly, she packed her makeup away, […]
He crocheted down. She secured a hand on each of his shoulders. With a small jump, Sierra wrapped her limbs around Chase like a koala bear. He gave a little bounce to inch her up so she could comfortably wrap her arms around his neck. And with a serene smile and eyes closed, Sierra rested […]
Gear I put in my camera bag for EVERY photoshoot. I write camera “bag” as if I only one. #facepalm Let me plead my case. Every bag is built for something different. For example, my tote, the one I use as a purse daily, would NEVER make it up Camelback Mountain. And my massive Canon […]
Red curtains were pulled down from the wall. The wooden blinds were pulled up. Early afternoon light illuminated the bedroom. Miss Daisy was in between feedings, and for the moment, she was content. No, rather, she was mesmerized, her hypnotized gaze fixed on the only source of light in the room. “She loves windows,” Nichole […]
A fairy tale engagement photoshoot at the Creekside Estates in Peoria, Arizona. The hottest recorded day of 2021 in Phoenix so far is June 17th, checking in at a blistering 118 degrees. Over a month prior, I had reserved the Creekside Estates in Peoria on June 19th for Britney and Chase’s engagement photoshoot. There was […]
The couple was standing on the Rosson House porch in front of their closest loved ones. Anna and Ivan were all smiles following their intimate marriage ceremony. His left palm was on her back. His right hand was on the curve of her hip. Ivan’s eyes were glued to his wife. Then he dipped her […]

My parents usually take the entire family on an annual trip. Obviously considering the pandemic sitch last year, we had to forego […]
Today I was standing next to my mother in church as our pastor was closing out his sermon on Father’s Day. My dad was standing at the front of the church with the other deacons. I glance over to my mom. She was fighting back tears. We were about to pray when I heard her whisper, “you guys are so lucky to have him.”
Two young ones, two teenagers, two husbands, and two sisters – eight people squeeze into the frame below the arch at the Phoenix Heritage Square park. Samantha and her boys are to my left. Nanette and her boys are to my right. Everyone is where they are supposed to be, their backs straight, smiles wide – everyone except for Samantha’s 2-year-old.
“I almost canceled.” Three words a photographer never wants to hear from a client when arriving for a photoshoot. Kathy didn’t have a long day. She didn’t have a long week. She’s a mama of 5 and I imagine she’s had a long many years. She was overwhelmed and exhausted. The last thing I wanted was for our time together to feel like another chore to check off her to-do list.
